List of the Top Ten Best-Selling Cars In Switzerland in 2011
There were no changes in the order of the top four most popular cars in Switzerland in 2011 compared to a year before. The Volkswagen Golf easily maintained its now traditional top position as Switzerland’s favorite car for the 36th consecutive year. The Skoda Octavia – built on a similar platform as the Golf – was again second, while the VW Polo was again the third most popular car in Switzerland. The Opel Astra was again the fourth best-selling car in Switzerland.
The rest of the top ten best-sellers list changed significantly from last year. The VW Passat took fifth position (up from 12th last year) following a model update early in the year. Last year’s fifth place car, the Audi A4 slipped to ninth although the actual number of cars sold was only slightly less than in 2010.
The Peugeot 207 improved from ninth last year while the Ford Fiesta improved one place. The Renault Clio was only the 13th best-selling car in Switzerland in 2010 while last year’s number seven, the Renault Megane dropped to eleventh.
The aging VW Touran had a slight update and managed to improve from 19th on the 2010 list to the tenth best-selling car in Switzerland in 2011.
The Volkswagen Group (mainly Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Seat) were again strongly represented amongst the top-selling car models in Switzerland. Of the top ten most popular car models in Switzerland in 2011, six were from the Volkswagen group, as were ten of the top twenty best-selling car models.
Volkswagen was also the most popular car brand in Switzerland in 2011.
