Best-Selling Vehicle Models in the United States in 2025
The list of best-selling vehicle models in the United States in 2025 once again highlights the uniqueness of the American auto market compared to Europe and most of the rest of the world. Pickup trucks and SUVs continue to dominate overall sales volumes, while traditional passenger cars play a much smaller, though still important, role in the American new light vehicle market.
America’s Favorite Vehicles Models
At the top of the ranking sits the Ford F-Series, which remains America’s best-selling vehicle by a wide margin. Ford delivered 828,832 F-Series trucks in 2025, an increase of 8.3% compared with the previous year. F-Series secured its 49th consecutive year as America’s best-selling truck, and 44 years as America’s best-selling vehicle. The F-Series’ long-running success reflects its broad appeal across retail buyers, commercial fleets, and rural and urban markets alike. No other individual model comes close to matching its scale.
In second place, the Chevrolet Silverado confirmed its position as Ford’s closest rival, but the gap widened. Chevrolet recorded 558,709 Silverado sales, keeping the full-size pickup firmly entrenched as one of the core pillars of the US vehicle market. Together, the F-Series and Silverado alone account for well over 1.3 million annual sales.
Top-Selling SUVs in the USA in 2025
SUVs follow next, led by the Toyota RAV4, the best-selling non-pickup vehicle in the country. Toyota sold 479,288 RAV4s in 2025, a modest year-on-year increase that nevertheless underscores the enduring popularity of compact crossovers.
The Honda CR-V, from Honda, ranked fourth overall with 403,768 sales, maintaining its position as one of America’s most trusted family vehicles.
Pickup trucks continue to fill much of the top ten. The Ram Pick-Up placed fifth with 374,059 sales, while the GMC Sierra followed closely behind at 356,218 units. GMC remains a major force in the premium truck segment, particularly among buyers seeking higher-trim and luxury-oriented pickups.
One of the standout performers of 2025 was the Chevrolet Equinox, which surged 40.5% to 332,301 sales. This sharp increase reflects strong demand for competitively priced compact SUVs, especially among buyers downsizing from larger vehicles without abandoning SUV practicality.
Best-Selling Car Model in the USA in 2025
Traditional sedans remain relevant but clearly secondary in volume. The Toyota Camry reached 316,185 sales, reinforcing its role as the most successful passenger car in the US, even as SUVs continue to draw buyers away from the segment. For example, the Mustang is currently Ford´s only traditional car model on sale in the US market.
Electric vehicles also featured prominently in the rankings, but unlikely to be repeated in 2026 following the cancellation of federal buying incentives toward the end of 2025. The Tesla Model Y, from Tesla, is estimated to have delivered around 300,000 units in 2025, making it not only the best-selling electric vehicle but also one of the top-selling vehicles overall. (Estimates for Tesla Model Y sales in the US in 2025 vary widely from around 270,000 to over 320,000 cars sold.)
Rounding out the top ten, the Toyota Tacoma posted one of the strongest growth rates of the year, rising more than 42% to 274,638 sales. This highlights the growing popularity of midsize pickups as alternatives to full-size trucks.
Overall, the 2025 rankings confirm a familiar pattern: trucks and SUVs dominate US sales, while only a handful of passenger cars remain volume leaders in an increasingly utility-focused landscape.
