The only notable new entrant on the list of the ten best-selling car models in France in 2025 was the new Renault 5. The Renault 5 was also the top-selling battery electric car in France in 2025.
In 2025, the French new car market contracted by 5% to 1,632,154 cars. Renault, Peugeot, and Dacia were again the best-selling car brands in France, while the Renault Clio and Peugeot 208 were the top-selling car models.

Top-Selling Car Models in France in 2025 (Full Year)
There were no changes in the rank order of the four best-selling car models in France in 2025 compared to 2024. However, Renault Clio sales were up and at higher levels than in any year since the current model´s launch in 2019. The strong sales came despite the new replacement model for 2026 already being presented to the public in September 2025.
In contrast, sales of the Peugeot 208 and the Dacia Sandero were lower, while Peugeot 2008 sales were stronger.
The Citroen C3 gained one rank position, and the Peugeot 3008 returned to the top-ten list after two years.
The most notable new entrant on the list of best-selling car models in France in 2025 was the new electric-only Renault 5. It was the best-selling electric car model in France in 2025 and the seventh most popular car overall.
The Dacia Duster entered the top-10 list from 13th. The French-produced Toyota Yaris slipped two positions, while the Toyota Yaris Cross dropped from 9th to 11th.
The Tesla Model Y slipped from tenth to 15th with sales down by a third.
