In full year 2024, the best-selling car models in France were again the Renault Clio, Peugeot 208, and Dacia Sandero.
2024 (January to December): for the second consecutive year, France’s favorite car models were the Renault Clio, Peugeot 208, and Dacia Sandero. For the first time ever, two Toyota models (Yaris and Yaris Cross) simultaneously appeared among the top ten best-selling cars in France. The Tesla Model Y was the tenth most popular car model of the French and the top-selling battery electric car in France in 2024.
In 2024, the French new car market contracted by 3.17% to 1,718,416 cars, Renault, Peugeot, and Dacia were again the best-selling car brands while the Renault Clio and Peugeot 208 were the top-selling car models in France.

Top-Selling Car Models in France in 2024 (Full Year)
There were no changes in the rank order of the three best-selling car models in France in 2024 compared to 2023. However, Renault Clio sales were weaker allowing the Peugeot 208 to close the gap to the top. The Dacia Sandero was the most improved of the top three but sales were still well below those of the perennial favorite cars of the French.
The Peugeot 2008 and Renault Capture each moved up one rank position despite lower sales. The Citroen C3 III fell two rank positions, as the French statistics ranked the Citroen C3 III and the newer Citroen C3 IV as separate models. The new C3 IV sold 11,871 cars since reaching the market and is most likely to regain at least its fourth position in 2025.
The Peugeot 308 maintained seventh place but sales volumes were sharply down.
The Toyota Yaris (up from 16th) and Toyota Yaris Cross (up from 11th) both entered the top ten to allow for the first time two Toyota models onto the top ten list of best-selling cars in France. The Yaris is produced in France.
The Tesla Model Y slipped from eighth to tenth but remained the best-selling electric car in France despite lower sales.
