In full-year 2025, the Ford Puma, Kia Sportage, and Nissan Qashqai were again the top-selling car models in Britain, while the Tesla Model Y remained the UK’s favorite electric car.

2025 (January to December): For the third consecutive year, the Ford Puma was the best-selling car model in the United Kingdom. The Kia Sportage was again second while the Nissan Qashqai was the third most popular car model in the UK in 2025. Most of the top ten car models in Britain were SUVs.

In 2025, the聽new car market in Britain聽increased 3.5% to 2,020,520 newly registered passenger vehicles. Volkswagen was the聽top-selling brand in the UK for the fifth consecutive year. The Ford Puma was again the聽favorite car model of the British聽in 2025, and the Tesla Model Y remained the聽best-selling battery-electric car in the UK.

Britain鈥檚 Favorite Car Models in 2025

The Ford Puma was Britain’s best-selling car model for the third consecutive year with record-high sales numbers in 2025. For the second consecutive year, the Kia Sportage and Nissan Qashqai were the second and third most popular car models in the UK in 2025. The Sportage narrowly improved on last year麓s record sales.

The Vauxhall Corsa returned to the top-ten list after no Vauxhall made it in 2024. The Corsa seemed to have benefited most from the Ford Fiesta麓s end of production. The Nissan Juke slipped one position despite slightly stronger sales.

With sales hardly different from a year ago, the VW Golf remained sixth, the Volvo XC40 improved two positions, and the MG HS remained eighth.

The Volkswagen Tiguan entered the top-ten list in Britain for the first time ever, while the VW Polo dropped off the list. The Hyundai Tucson slipped from seventh to tenth.

The Tesla Model Y slipped out of the top ten but remained the favorite electric car model of the British in 2025 with 24,298 sales.
