2024 (January to December): The Tesla Model Y was the best-selling electric car model in Britain for the third consecutive year despite weaker sales. The Audi Q4 e-tron was the second most popular electric car while the Tesla Model 3 was third. Battery-electric car sales increased by 21.4% making a record one in five new cars sold in Britain battery-electric car models.
In 2024, the new car market in Britain expanded slightly by 2.61%% to 1,952,778 newly registered passenger vehicles. Volkswagen was the top-selling brand in the UK for the fourth consecutive year. The Ford Puma was again the favorite car model of the British in 2024 and the Tesla Model Y remained the best-selling battery-electric car in the UK.

Britain’s Favorite Electric Car Models in 2024
In 2024, the Tesla Model Y was the top-selling electric car model in Britain for the third consecutive year. Although sales volume was weaker, it still easily outsold the Audi Q4 e-tron which improved one sales position.
The Tesla Model 3 improved one rank position and just missed out on taking second. The MG 4 slipped from second to third.
The BMW i4 improved from eighth to become the fifth most popular electric car model in the UK in 2024. The Mercedes-Benz EQA is a new entrant on the list, followed closely by the Skoda Enyaq, which improved from tenth.
The Hyundai Kona and Volvo EX30 are new entrants on the top ten list while the VW ID4 slipped one rank position.
The electric car models dropping out of the top ten in Britain in 2024 were the Polestar 2 (from 5th), Volkswagen ID3 (6th), and Kia e-Niro (7th).
