Key Trends in European Electric Car Sales
Due to a change in number plate letters, September is traditionally one of the most important months of the year for car sales in Britain. It was again the case in September when the British new car market was larger than the German one for both all-electric and total car sales.
In September 2026, BEV sales in the UK increased by 36.3% to 99,201 electric cars for a 28.3% share of the total British new car market.
In Germany, all-electric car sales almost doubled in September 2026 for a 34.5% market share. In France, BEV sales more than doubled to 41.7% of all new car sales.
