Market Share of Electric Cars in European Countries in 2024
The market share of electric cars in various countries in Europe according to JATO was as follows in 2024:

All-electric cars were only the main source of energy for new cars sold in two European countries in 2024: Norway and Denmark. The Netherlands, Sweden, and Malta were the only other countries in Europe with battery-electric cars exceeding a third of new car sales in 2024.
Electric car sales in Germany fell well below expectation in 2024 but of the top-5 car markets in Europe, market penetration of electric vehicles remained very low in both Italy and Spain.
However, it predicted that new EU emission regulations will force carmakers to sell more electrified cars in Europe in 2025 with the sales of battery-electric cars predicted to grow a hefty 67% to around 2,650,000 all-electric cars.
