Top Ten All Electric Car Models in Europe in 2024 (Full Year)

In 2024, the Tesla Model Y remained Europe’s favorite electric car despite registrations falling by 17%. The Tesla Model Y was the fourth best-selling car model overall in Europe in 2024 – down from first in 2023.

The downturn in sales was partly due to the decreasing impact of price cuts offered by Tesla in 2024 compared to 2023 – and increasing competition within the market. Despite the downturn, the Model Y was the best-selling car in the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, and Norway last year.

The Tesla Model 3, which was refreshed during the year, increased sales by 12% to easily remain the second most popular electric car model in Europe.

The new Volvo EX30 moved into third place at the expense of the Volkswagen ID4 which dropped from third to fifth with sales down by a quarter. Its sister model, the Skoda Enyaq, moved up one place to fourth while the VW ID3 improved one rank position despite weaker sales.

The BMW iX1 moved into the top ten from 13th while the BMW i4 maintained tenth place from a year ago. BMW generally performed well worldwide with all-electric cars.

The MG 4 slipped from fourth to eighth with sales sharply down while the Audi Q4 improved two positions.

The Fiat 500 saw electric car sales halved to drop from sixth to only 19th.
