In full-year 2025, Tesla worldwide car sales and production contracted for the second consecutive year, but many analysts maintained a positive outlook with growth predicted for 2026, 2027, 2028, and 2029.

2025 (January to December): Tesla’s worldwide electric car production and global sales were lower for the second consecutive year. Worldwide deliveries (global Tesla sales) were 8.6% lower than a year ago, while total production in 2025 was 6.7% lower than a year ago. The Tesla Model Y remained the best-selling Tesla car model worldwide. Analysts predict that Tesla sales worldwide will grow slightly in 2026 but could possibly expand to over 3 million Tesla sales by 2029.

Tesla production of electric cars worldwide increased as follows in recent years:
| TESLA | 2025 | 2024 | 2023 | 2022 | 2021 | 2020 | 2019 |
| Model 3/Y | 1,600,767 | 1,679,338 | 1,775,159 | 1,298,434 | 906,032 | 454,932 | 302,301 |

In 2025, total Tesla car sales and production were down for the second consecutive year, but still at the third-highest level ever. However, Tesla lost market share in a growing global all-electric car market.
In 2025, Tesla struggled in the European market due to a combination of more competition and political opinions. Although full-year figures have not been released yet, Tesla sales in Europe (EU, EFTA, UK) were down 28% to 203,382 sales in the period January to November 2025. At the same time, the European all-electric car market expanded by 27% to 2,276,161 battery-electric vehicle (BEV) registrations.
In the USA, changes in regulations and incentives to buy electric vehicles hurt Tesla sales in addition to political events. Sales of especially the Cybertruck remained well below initial expectations.
