In full-year 2024, Tesla worldwide car production contracted by 4% but total global sales (deliveries) hardly changed from a year ago.
2024 (January to December): Tesla’s worldwide electric car production and global sales were slightly lower than the record numbers achieved in 2023. Worldwide deliveries (global sales) were only 1% lower than a year ago while total production in 2024 was 4% lower than a year ago. The Tesla Model Y remained the best-selling Tesla car model worldwide.

Tesla announced worldwide production and deliveries of Tesla electric cars globally in 2024 as follows:

Although Tesla’s production contracted by 4%, global worldwide deliveries were down by only one percent. “Other Models” sales increased by nearly a third and include the Cybertruck, which was not a factor in sales figures for previous years.
Based on initial production and sales data, Chinese carmaker BYD was the largest producer of battery-electric passenger cars in 2024 (by only 4,522 vehicles). However, Tesla’s global deliveries were 24,234 cars more than BYD’s worldwide BEV sales in full year 2024.

In 2024, total Tesla car sales and production were at the second-highest level ever and only marginally lower than in 2023, the previous record year. The “others” numbers include the presumably high-profit Models S and X, as well as from 2024 the Cybertruck.
Production of the Model 3 Sedan and Model Y small SUV Crossover was 5% lower in 2024 while deliveries were down by 2%. Electric vehicles generally struggled in Europe in 2024 but production problems at several Tesla factories, as well as model updates, contributed to the slightly lower numbers.
