In 2021, Honda global car sales and vehicle production contracted with exports from Japan sharply lower.
In full-year 2021, Honda had weaker sales worldwide with global car production nearly 17% lower and exports from Japan down by more than a quarter. 2021 was the third consecutive year of lower numbers for Honda with supply-chain issues causing severe delays on some models. Honda performed stronger in the US with higher sales but struggled in Japan.

Honda’s car production in Japan decreased for the third consecutive year in 2021. All carmakers had supply-chain problems with a shortage in components, especially semiconductors, but Honda seems to have struggled more than Toyota.
Production outside Japan was also lower for the third consecutive year in 2021but Honda worldwide sales were less dramatically affected than in Japan.
