In full-year 2022, Kia sold 2.9 million vehicles worldwide and forecasted global sales to increase in 2023 to 3.2 million cars. The Sportage SUV was the top-selling Kia model globally.
2022 (January to December): Kia Corporation sold 2,903,619 vehicles worldwide in 2022, a 4.6 percent increase on global sales in 2021. Kia car sales in South Korea were flat in 2022 but growth is expected in 2023 as component shortages ease.

Kia’s 2022 sales in markets outside of Korea increased by 5.4 percent from 2021 to 2,362,551 units. Sales in Korea totaled 541,068 units – a 1.1% increase. Kia vehicle sales in the USA in 2022 contracted by 1.1% to 693,549 vehicles.
By model, the Sportage SUV topped the 2022 global sales ranking with 452,068 units, followed by the Seltos SUV with 310,418 units and the Sorento SUV with 222,570 units.
Kia claimed the growth in 2022 was largely due to its efficient supply chain management strategies and the successful launches of the all-new Niro and the 2024 Seltos. Plus, the all-electric EV6 demonstrated Kia’s competitiveness in the global EV market as it had a total sale of nearly 80,000 units.
