2022 (January to December): Kia America sold 1.1% fewer cars in the US but strong sales at the end of the year hint at a more positive 2023. A record two-thirds of all Kia vehicles sold in the USA in 2022 were SUVs. The Sportage was again the best-selling Kia model in the USA in 2022.

In the full calendar year 2022, Kia vehicle sales in the USA contracted by 1.1% to 693,549 vehicles compared to 701,416 in 2021 which was the record year in the company’s 30-year history. More positive for Kia was record sales in the final quarter of 2022.
Kia’s annual retail sales volume was 654,554 vehicles — an increase of 1.7 percent compared to the previous retail record in 2021.

In 2022, the Sportage replaced the Forte as the most popular Kia model in the US.
Sales of Kia’s SUVs and utility vehicles represented 66.8-percent of the brand’s overall 2022 sales total led by Sportage, Telluride, and Sorento, In addition, three SUV models achieved new full-year records – Sportage, Telluride, and Niro.
