In full-year 2023, Volkswagen increased car sales in the USA by 9% with the Tiguan and Atlas the top-selling VW models in the US.
2023 (January to December): Volkswagen of America increased car sales in the USA by 9.3% to 329,029 vehicles. Although sales were 28,000 vehicles more than in 2022, VW sales were still 45,000 cars fewer than in 2021. SUVs made up 74% of all new Volkswagens sold in the US in 2023 despite slightly weaker sales. Passenger car sales increased by a stronger 12%.

The small SUV Tiguan was again the best-selling Volkswagen in the USA in 2023 although sales were down by 14% — a new model is going on sale in the US in 2024. Sales of the Atlas and Altas Cross Sport were noticeably stronger. The electric VW ID4 increased sales by 84% to give this battery-electric SUV an 11.5% share of Volkswagen’s total sales in the US in 2023.
All four Volkswagen passenger car models increased sales although the actual numbers for all but the evergreen Jetta are relatively small.
Volkswagen remained by far the best-selling car brand in Germany in 2023.
